Kristine Barker

With a background in education policy and experience at the school, district and state levels, Kristine has a focused skill set in developing and executing on strategies to improve policy and practice in the education sector. Prior to consulting, Kristine led the Louisiana Department of Education division of Portfolio Opportunities, ensuring that students and families are provided with high-quality school choice options. She served as the state's charter authorizing content expert for both local and state charter authorizing, responsible for designing and refining authorization and oversight processes for all schools and programs within the division including charter schools, nonpublic schools, and home study programs across the state.

Previously, at NOLA Public Schools, Kristine developed innovative portfolio strategies to meet the needs of the New Orleans public school system that leverage data to drive policy and practice to ensure stability and long-term success of the district. She oversaw the charter application process from recruitment, application, and school opening processes, continually improving equity and transparency.

Kristine has a BS in International Studies from the University of Oregon and a Master's of Public Policy and Administration from Northwestern University.
